School Meals

Menu and catering information about our school.

Our menus are carefully developed, to appeal to children and provide the perfect balance of essential nutrients – and to offer them the chance to try a few dishes they may not have tried before.  They are freshly prepared and cooked in-house each day, following our BWCET Garden Kitchen Menu.

Please follow this link which is interactive and gives a full nutritional breakdown of our menus.

Healthy Packed Lunches and Snacks

As part of our healthy schools initiative we try and ensure that any children who bring snacks for breaktimes, or packed lunches into schools ensure that they are healthy. We will be closely monitoring snacks on the playground to ensure that this is the case. Below is a link of healthy options for packed lunches.

Is my child entitled to free school meals?

Any child whose parents or carers are on certain benefits is entitled to receive free meals at school. Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on – paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit

Children who get any of the above benefits in their own right (ie they get benefits payments directly, instead of through a parent or guardian) can also get free school meals. Children under the compulsory school age who are in full time education may also be able to get free school meals.
